Turns out Britney Spears is an OG Swiftie, and she’s got the throwback selfie to prove it.
The music stars first met during her Oops tour, after her manager’s assistant said, “I have a girl named Taylor who wants to come in and sing for you.” The rest, as they say, is history.

Britney Spears recalls meeting ‘girl crush’ Taylor Swift for the first time
Taking to her 42.6 million Instagram followers, the Toxic singer posted a duet of pics of herself and Taylor Swift, the first from 2003, and a more recent one from the 2008 MTV VMAs.
In the caption, she told the adorable story of their first meeting, in which the Love Story singer sang to Britney Spears, before becoming the worldwide sensation she is today.
“This is way back when but kinda cool … During my Oops Tour, I got a knock at my door. My good friend at the time was the assistant to my manager who was trying to become a manager himself. There was a knock, and then he said, “I have a girl named Taylor who wants to come in and sing for you.” I was like of course !!! He walks in, and she sings a beautiful song with her guitar,” Spears penned.
“I was like wow wow she’s unbelievable !!! We took a picture, and she then became the most iconic pop woman of our generation. Kinda cool she plays stadiums, and I prefer her videos over movies any day. She’s stunning !!! Girl crush,” she concluded.
Taylor signed her a music publishing deal in 2004, a year after the first pic with Britney was taken. By the second pic in 2008, Taylor had made her way into the celebrity world and released her first two studio albums.
Now, 20 years after the original pic, the star has become a global phenomenon. She’s currently on tour in Argentina and sent fans wild when she was seen kissing boyfriend Travis Kelce for the first time in public.
The Eras star continues to break records
20 years on from her first meeting with Britney, Taylor is now breaking all the records imaginable, including Grammy nominations.
The 33-year-old’s single Anti-Hero was nominated for Song Of The Year, which marks her seventh nomination in the category, passing Sir Paul McCartney.
She’s also on track to break another record, as her record Midnight is up for Album of the Year. If she wins, it’ll mark a record fourth time taking the crown.
Evidently, a LOT can happen in two decades!
